Software Architect [REMOTE]

We’re looking for a Software Architect who is passionate about code craftsmanship, continuous improvement, and agile development. You will be advising and guiding teams creating elegant solutions to the most complex challenges. Experience crafting applications using Java, microservices and dealing with scale  is a must. You will be working closely with highly collaborative teams to provide technical leadership and mentorship.

  • 7+ years experience in professional Java or equivalent development
  • 3+ years of technical leadership experience (Staff Developer, Architect)

  • Lead Senior and Junior team members with skillful mentorship and coaching to excel
  • Lead architectural discussions, utilizing both your experience and thoughtful research to guide direction
  • Work closely with a collaborative agile team, provide mentorship, and thoughtful code reviews
  • Contribute scalable software artifacts that are easy to understand and simple to maintain
  • Adhere to and advocate for best practices
  • Solve problems relating to mission-critical services
  • Build automation to prevent problem recurrence with the goal of automating responses to all non-exceptional service conditions
  • Vet cutting-edge libraries, and web standards, and weigh them against established ones

  • 7+ years of full-time Java (or equivalent) back-end development experience
  • Experience with Linux or Unix environments
  • Experience with Data architecture
  • Experience with AWS preferred, other cloud vendors (GCP, Azure..) acceptable
  • Experience with kubernetes, helm, docker for cloud deployments
  • Advanced knowledge of Design Patterns, code refactoring, service-oriented architecture and domain-driven design
  • Experience with RESTful APIs
  • Experience with API tools like Swagger or OpenAPI
  • Proven experience using RDBMS and NoSQL datastores
  • Experience with Gradle, Maven, Jenkins, Git
  • Well-versed in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery methodologies
  • Experience with Agile delivery methodology
  • Experience dealing with  high throughput, low latency systems
  • Strong command of English language (both verbal and written, other languages are a bonus)
  • Familiar with Java frameworks like Vert.x, KafkaStreams, and Guice
  • Have developed and delivered microservices based projects
  • Comfortable working with Product, Customer Success and directly with Customers

Nice to haves:
  • Experience with Cassandra, Kafka, Zookeeper, or Elasticsearch
  • Appreciation for performance optimizations, especially in latency-sensitive (millisecond scale) environments
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PHP, Python, JavaScript, Bash, or Terraform
  • Experience with Java multi-threading and concurrency
  • Contributions to open-source or personal projects
  • Working knowledge of Front End (javascript, CSS, Vue/React/Angular)
